Communication
In order to get good results and create amazing art, correct preparation is necessary. Part of that preparation is communicating your expectations and your comfort zone. Most models have limits in different styles, and I respect those limits 100%, I just need to know them in advance. I will not try to push your limit, but I will try to push the photo's limit. Therefore, if we agreed, for instance, on no visible labia, you can rest easy knowing that if it happens (we both move, and I can't always predict your movement), then you know those photos will not be used.
It is super important for me that you feel safe and that you know you are in an environment where you have absolute freedom of movement without any concerns.
As a part of the preparation, make sure you have read and understood the model release, which is an industry standard. If you have questions or add-ons, let me know as soon as possible. Anything can be added. I'm a professionel photographer, with a business registration, hence the need for signing a release along with proof of age (any kind of photo identification). This is to protect the integrity of both me and you.
When preparing for the shoot, there are a few guidelines that would make it easier and more smooth on the day of shooting:
- Get a good night's sleep and don't drink alcohol the day before. A hungover and/or tired model (or photographer) usually doesn't end up with good photos. Drink plenty of water and make sure to eat healthy to avoid bloating or fatigue.
- When shooting nudes, it is a good idea to wear loose clothes. prior to the shoot. Tight underwear, jeans, and sports clothes tend to leave marks on your skin that can take a long time to vanish. A bathrobe or kimono is ideal, though a loose dress will do just fine. During the shoot, the kimono or bathrobe is a great way of covering up during breaks and keeping you warm if necessary.
- If you need to wax or shave certain areas, do it as close to the shoot as possible. Leave enough time for the skin irritation to be gone. The same goes for plucking eyebrows or other treatments.
- There will be high-end retouching on the photos, and the better raw material we can have by following the guidelines, the better end result we will get, and it will save me a ton of work in Photoshop. Even though the photos will have high-end retouching, I will never alter your body-size or stuff like that! I will remove redness, pimples, zits, bruises, and things that tend to disappear by themselves. Also, I don't think twice about altering the direction of a finger or so if it creates the most amazing photo; I could've asked you to move that finger during the shoot. Scars, tattoos, birthmarks, and stretchmarks are all part of you, and only if they are a disturbance to a particular image will I tone them down or remove them. My goal is to show the world beauty. Nobody has perfect skin, nobody! What we create together is art. I will never go "filter style" and enlarge your breasts and slim your waist.
- If you are nervous and would like to bring a friend or chaperone, that is fine. If a photographer says no to this, this is a big red flag. Make sure you are comfortable with the person you bring and that you are not shy about the person's presence - or have the person be in a neighboring room. Your safety and your limits are the number one concern, great photos are always second to that. You are the one being nude, or semi-nude, so you define the limits based on your comfort zone.
